Favorite locations
Whether you are a photographer or not, you most likely have
some favorite spots where you enjoy going for a walk now and then.
For me, there are two such locations that offer photographic opportunities.
Both are not too far from my home in Ottawa (Canada).
Gatineau
Park: This park is located on the Quebec side of
the Ottawa River, minutes from downtown. Beautiful at any time of
year, for me it is especially stunning in the fall when leaves change the
landscape into a multicolor feast for the eyes. With hundreds of
kilometers of trails, forests containing more than sixty species of trees,
abundant wildlife and numerous crystal-clear lakes, the park offers great
opportunities for the nature photographer and nature enthusiast alike.
To learn more about this jewel of Canada's National Capital Region visit:
www.capcan.ca. Some of my favorite spots in the park are 'Pink Lake' with it's emerald water, 'Bourgeois Lake', 'Black Lake', 'Champlain Lookout' just to name a few. As you browse through these pages, you'll see many pictures taken in Gatineau Park. f-8 and be there!
Mer Bleue Bog: At first glance, 'Mer Bleue Bog' does not seem to offer a lot. But after walking along the few kilometers of boardwalk you will have a different view. Quote
from the NCC site at www.capcan.ca
"Mer Bleue is an especially precious example of a northern ecosystem
more typical of the Arctic than the Ottawa Valley and it has been designated
an internationally significant wetland under the United Nations RAMSAR
Convention". Personally I like Mer Bleue because of its proximity
and diversity of plants, wildlife and insects in a small area. Visits
there at different times of the year offer very different opportunities.
Though not as majestic as 'Gatineau Park', as you browse through these pages, you'll see the many faces of 'Mer Bleue'.
